I am a Property Care Association qualified technician in treating all forms of timber and damp
Rising damp is when moisture rises from the ground into the walls and plaster. Rising Damp is unsightly and causes damage to decoration, manifesting itself often as wavy lines along walls, peaking at corners. Damp often leads to timber decay, particularly in older properties with unprotected timbers. Damage will be caused to plaster and rendering as a result of hygroscopic salt contamination. The moisture present often increases the conductivity of the walls, resulting in increased heat loss from the property.
Condensation is surface dampness. It mainly occurs on cold walls indoors and other cold surfaces such as tiles and cold water supply pipes under sinks and hand basins.
Condensation is usually at its worst during the winter. It often results in black mould growing on walls and other surfaces.
The best was to eliminate condensation is to increase air flow.
One way of combating condensation is to fit a positive pressure system into the ceiling. It draws air into the roof space from the outside through the eaves and gently pushes it into the property.

Mr Gaffney completed work to our property which we thought was to a very high standard. We found he was very professional with his first assessment and he continued this throughout the job. He has an excellent methodical approach to the job, works extremely hard to achieving his goal and we would have no trouble recommending him to any of our family and friends as we know that he would complete any job in the same professional manner. We believe that any company taking on Mr Gaffney would not be disappointed but would only achieve a better reputation and quality of service.
